POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Community Director (RCFE Administrator), the Activities Director is responsible for designing and implementing a diverse array of activities and programs tailored to the interests, values, and needs of residents at Rhoda Goldman Plaza. This role plays a crucial part in upholding Rhoda Goldman Plaza's high operational standards, focusing on creating a vibrant and engaging environment for residents across both assisted living and memory care. The Director of Life Enrichment is dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life through meaningful and purposeful activities, aimed at preventing loneliness and fostering a sense of purpose. The Activities Director understands and assists in developing and achieving strategic and business plan objectives, as well as budget, and service goals. The Activities Director also works to achieve the mission and objectives of Jewish Family and Children’s Services, executes responsibilities within the limitations of the Agency’s resources, and performs all duties in compliance with legal and agency standards.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement a varied program of social, educational, physical, cultural, and artistic activities that cater to the varied interests and needs of residents, including holistic wellness aspects such as disease prevention, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being Coordinate with JFCS staff to provide robust opportunities for participation in Jewish life and learning, including religious services, holiday observances, and cultural celebrations, ensuring these offerings are meaningful and accessible for all residents Collaborate with JFCS’ Volunteer Manager, to recruit and manage an active volunteer program that enhances the resident experience Oversee the scheduling, training, and performance of the programming team ensuring the delivery of high-quality programming that aligns with the residents' needs and interests Mentor and guide the programming team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages creativity and proactive problem-solving Develop and manage the budget for activities, supplies, and external contractors, ensuring efficient use of resources Regularly assess program effectiveness through resident feedback and participation data, adapting offerings as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, or Gerontology required; Master’s degree preferred Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a leadership role within an RCFE or similar setting, with proven experience in planning and implementing activities for elderly populations; experience working with persons impacted by cognitive impairment and knowledge of best practices for dementia care Strong knowledge and understanding of RCFE regulations and compliance requirements Compassion for older adults and commitment to providing the highest quality of care Knowledge and understanding of Jewish values, culture, and traditions preferred All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, including minorities, women, veterans, and disabled individuals.
