Job Description

BUYER

The Buyer is responsible for planning, forecasting, product buys, PO receipt management and vendor/supplier maintenance. This position will help originate and manage vendor profiles and contracts, working directly with sales, customer service, project management, and operations.

 

Responsibilities

• Reviews and places orders for goods and services.
• Maintains procurement records such as purchase orders of materials/goods purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
• Contact vendors to negotiate prices, monitor delivery schedules, and expedite delivery of priority items.
• Manage vendor relationships and assist in building effective partnerships.
• Maintains accurate information on alternative vendors and items purchased.
• Keeps abreast of market conditions and price changes.
• Works closely with other departments or groups under minimal supervision.
• Manage Item setup and maintenance.
• Determines methods of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
• Ensured compliance with shipping and timelines from supplier partners.
• Work with inventory and warehouse teams to help maintain stocked inventory and seamless transition of goods.
• Assist the department in developing and implementing purchasing strategies for products.
• Liaise with the Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.
• Manage inventory levels to protect the company from backorders and excess surplus liability.
  
   

Qualifications  

• Bachelor’s degree, preferred i.e. logistics, manufacturing
• 3 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of material management and procurement function.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to use tact and skill in dealing with other teams, management, and vendors.
• Good negotiation skills.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry.
• Must know dimensional lumber units of measure.
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Must know about ERP systems (Syteline is a plus).
