Job Description

We are seeking a Cost Control Analyst to support an utility client's Electrical Engineering team working on critical infrastructure projects. This role will focus on financial tracking, cash flow management, and forecasting for multiple capital projects. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and experience managing cost data from various sources.

Responsibilities

• Track and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and actual expenditures
• Analyze financial trends, variances, and spending patterns across multiple workstreams
• Prepare monthly cash flow projections and provide early warnings of budget issues
• Support development of project forecasts using data gathered from engineering, procurement, and field execution teams
• Compile and validate data from internal and external sources for accurate reporting
• Generate and present reports for program managers, engineering leads, and financial teams
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure alignment between cost data and project scope
• Maintain documentation for change orders, work orders, and vendor contracts
• Track contract commitments, invoices, and accruals to support timely vendor payments
• Assist in the setup, maintenance, and closeout of project financials in relevant systems
• Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities and process improvements

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in cost control, project accounting, or financial analysis
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, dashboards)
• Experience with project financial systems and ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
• Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate across engineering and project teams
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Experience supporting engineering or construction projects is preferred
