Job Description

Protection Agent (Executive Protection Agent)

This position is located in the Office of Safety, Security and Protection, Executive Protective Operations Division. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Executive Protection Agent on the team responsible for providing executive-level personal protection to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary and other designees. This is an open-continuous announcement with an initial cut-off date of 7/21/2025 and then every two weeks thereafter.

The position is located in Washington, DC. It is full-time and permanent. The salary is $101,401 - $131,826 per year with a GS-12 grade level.

This position requires 50% or less travel (domestic and international). There are no relocation expenses reimbursed. It does not offer remote work or telework eligibility. The work schedule is full-time.

The job family is 1801 General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, And Compliance Series. It is a non-supervisory position that requires a Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance. A drug test is required and the position is considered Special-Sensitive (SS)/High Risk.

The position requires a credentialing and national security trust determination process.

Duties include participating in executive personal security protection policies, performing duties of a Detail Leader of the Executive Protection Detail, assisting in investigations concerning threats, coordinating telecommunications systems, ensuring compliance with procedures, coordinating logistics and administrative matters, planning and carrying out logistical support, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements include being a US Citizen or US National, Selective Service registration for males, successful adjudication of background investigation, successful completion of pre-employment medical and physical assessments, willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays, specialized experience coordinating executive personal protection operations, successful completion of an accredited basic law enforcement training program, age requirement of at least 21 years and not reaching 37 years of age by the date of appointment, meeting physical demands, Lautenberg Amendment compliance, training and firearms requirements, driver's license requirement, Law Enforcement Officer Retirement Coverage, and Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime eligibility.

Qualifications include meeting specialized experience requirements, selective placement factors, time-in-grade requirement, and meeting maximum entry age requirement. Special position requirements include physical demands, Lautenberg Amendment compliance, training and firearms requirements, driver's license requirement, Law Enforcement Officer Retirement Coverage, and Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime eligibility.
